end of 2k8

boxing day was alright this year

i got the camera i had wanted

the canon rebel xsi 12.2mp dslr

and a new monitor - which hasnt arrived yet

then matt's birthday came and went

i gave him 2 turntables a mixer and headphones

but told him that they have to stay here

which makes the whole thing not good enough

apparently

and i got the flu on his birthday

which i still have now

and i feel like crap

but its new years eve

so i guess we're gonna go out

for a bit anyway

snow shovellin

i bought a new snow shovel

even though i dont have a driveway

or a sidewalk

or even a patio

but ive used it so much already

i shovelled my entire parking lot

then my landlord came out and hosed it down

thats right

with water

i guess thats what they do in croatia

i shovelled the whole alley behind the cave

and by the time i was done

it needed doing again

i shovelled a dozen people into or out of their parking spots

including my own

i shovelled half of alberni street

cause somebody gotta do it.

Breeding behavior

Mallards form pairs only until the female lays eggs, at which time she is left by the male. The clutch is 8–13 eggs, which are incubated for 27–28 days to hatching with 50–60 days to fledging. The ducklings are precocial, and can swim and feed themselves on insects as soon as they hatch, although they stay near the female for protection. Mallards also have rates of male-male sexual activity that are unusually high for birds. In some cases, as many as 19% of pairs in a Mallard population are male-male homosexual^[7].

When they pair off with mating partners, often one or several drakes will end up "left out". This group will sometimes target an isolated female duck — chasing, pestering and pecking at her until she weakens (a phenomenon referred to by researchers as rape flight), at which point each male will take turns copulating with the female. Male Mallards will also occasionally chase other males in the same way. (In one documented case, a male Mallard copulated with another male he was chasing after it had been killed when it flew into a glass window.)^[8]

happy birthday to me part 9

	matt becky	2008.12.13 22:12	I crashed. We're ok. Pretty shaken up but ok. Believe it or not but i was hardly speeding. There was a big truck ahead of me on single lane highway and he even pulled over a bit for me to pass but the oncoming lane was ice so when i pulled out i started sliding - first to the far left then the far right and back and forth a few more times until i flew off the right side into a ditch about 100feet. Luckily the only thing i hit was powder snow (under differant circumstances it would've been really nice snow to frollick in - but not today). I am now sitting with okee's front end buried about 4feet deep and the back end 2feet deep. There is no cell service here. A sand truck stopped and is going to the nearest town to send a tow truck for me. It will b here in an hr or two. Okee still runs but i'm almost out of gas and the brake light is on. A few others stopped but nobody could help. Me n chi cuddled a bit. The truck arrived. He had to dig my front bumper out enough to get hooks in and after about an hr he managed to pull okee up a 60degree incline through the snow and everything. The snow got so compacted that it filled up right to the top of the hood. He's digging me out of that now because my fan wont turn and everything else is so packed with snow that i wont make it very far without over heating. everything inside my van got thrown forward. The 12 box is in front of the bed and the rest of the speakers are in front of that. All the blankets from the bed too. . . To b continued"

matt		2008.12.12 14:27	Forecast is snow today . Flurries tomorrow and then sunny .my computer froze before i could get road info but ill let you know when i do.
	matt	2008.12.12 22:26	So okee has broken down in a place called edson or somethig. My headlights have stopped working completely and any time i turn it off it takes about 20min to turn over again. I got pulled over by the rcmp for not having lights but no ticket or anything. I'm at a truckers motel now and i have to wait til morning to get my lights looked at. But most places aren't open on the wknd. I can't stop crying at how bad of a trip this was and i'm so cold and i dunno what to do. I never felt so alone before and helpless.

I got a spa room at holiday inn that's supposed to cost $280/night for $150 cause it was late and i told them my sob story and it was only available for 1 night. I soaked in the jacuzzi for a couple hrs then zzzz. Sneaking chi in n out was easier than i thought it would b - its a good thing she likes those tiger bags. Anyway - today's my birthday and once again i'm spending it alone with chi in a strange city, same as all the other years - just way colder. I guess i shouldn't have had any great expectations from my family - that way i wouldn't b so sad and lonely. I just got another hotel room downtown. countdown

ive been working hard on okee lately

trying to get ready for my trip to edmonton

which is in three days

the past two days have had too many dead ends

wiring harnesses that go nowhere

lights that dont

and that goddamn clunkclunk in my power steering

on saturday i am supposed to be in surrey all day with my mechanic

to install my aux heater system

and finally

my rear bumper

i wish i had more energy to be excited about it all

i purchased snow claws

matt made an excel spreadsheet for me

to track my gas mileage

so after three years of saved receipts

i now know

okee is a gas hog

my birthday is in less than a week

Okee so Pretty

After 3 years i finally got the correct paint color for my van. DARK MAPLE METALLIC. My life will never be the same again. The cave is a sanctuary for me. My van looks like new. I'm heading to edmonton in 7 days and things are looking good.
